Zero to Hero: The Accumulation of Daily Habits

In 1890, author William James published the book “The Principles of Psychology” and in it, a chapter titled Habit.

The book starts by describing creatures in nature and how they are a bundle of habits. Their daily behavior is cultivated by habits that were implanted at birth. He goes on to make other observations of nature and the plasticity of physical things. How things become immovable over time due to the shape that they are molded into. He talks of physics within the natural world.

He builds up to this simple premise: things grow into the model in which it has been exercised.

How I Forged an Unbreakable Mindset in 30 Days

I needed to reshape my life. I developed bad habits from 18 months of working in an environment I didn’t like, in a state, I didn’t like and for bosses, I didn’t respect.

My personal life started to become attuned to escaping to a nice comfortable place. I started to become more and more like an average, fat, lazy person that idolizes TV stars and craves more distractions that take them away from their own mediocre existence.

I was weak and I no longer respected myself. Since my view of myself is closely tied to my successes and my performance, this became a real problem, real quick.

The Common Denominator of Success by Albert Gray

The following speech was given by Albert E.N. Gray at the National Association of Life Underwriter’s convention of 1940. It was given to those that sold life insurance for a living.

Selling anything in life requires a certain degree of resilience, grit, and determination. The fortitude to keep on pushing forward when people shut doors in your face. In a field where failure is common, the traits that make one successful are also common.
