How to Attack Life like an Adventure

February 4, 2019 by Tony Francisco Leave a Comment

The very source of our discontent: we want to know the results of the outcome before we commit.

Yet, that is not how life works. Life is more like an adventure. When we set out on an adventure, we are unsure of the results but we look forward to the experience.

We don’t know what will happen in the end but we embrace the opportunity to do something fun/inspiring/noteworthy/epic. [Read more…]

An Evening Dedicated to Your Brain

September 27, 2018 by Tony Francisco Leave a Comment

I recently attended an event in Hollywood with Jim Kwik of Kwik Brain, aptly called an evening dedicated to your brain.

Jim suffered from an injury growing up and was known as “the boy with the broken brain,” but has since conquered his limitations through reading and systematic thinking regarding the brain’s ability to learn and overcome.

He has been called upon by industry giants like Zappos, Nike, and Google to help increase the reading, thinking, and learning capabilities of their employees, which gives him credibility with some of the world’s highest performers.

The event was held in a dimly lit, hippie-ish Yoga studio, but was far from translucent. [Read more…]

One Day to Greatness with Jack Canfield

September 17, 2018 by Tony Francisco Leave a Comment

One year ago I attended a seminar called One Day to Greatness with Jack Canfield, the creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series.

Several months after the seminar during an annual review, I realized that I could have been doing more. I realized that I haven’t been taking enough action and I wasn’t hustling enough. I was vaguely worthy of someone that outworks.

Take action. Things may come to those who wait but only the things left by those who hustle. – Abraham Lincoln

So, I returned to the primary objective of the seminar: learn how to go further and faster with less effort toward a life of greatness. In pursuit of more.

The way ahead was three-pronged: (1) gain greater clarity about your purpose, vision, and goals; (2) develop powerful habits and the mindset necessary for success; (3) take 100% responsibility for your results, and become more action-oriented. [Read more…]

A Day of Functional Movement: CrossFit Level 2 Seminar Experience

August 11, 2018 by Tony Francisco Leave a Comment

I recently completed the CrossFit® Level 2 Trainer seminar and it was jam-packed with functional movement.

Functional movement can be described as movement patterns that contribute the most to accomplishing a physical task.

One can make associations between the deadlift and picking up heavy things or the overhead press and an organized “top shelf.”

Functional movement patterns also contribute the best to fitness, where “constantly varied, high-intensity functional movement” prepare a person for any physical-contingency, the known and the unknowable. [Read more…]

Kobe Bryant: Pay the Price

June 1, 2018 by Tony Francisco Leave a Comment

You can have anything you want, you just have to be willing to pay the price.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Everything has its price — and if that price is not paid, not that thing but something else is obtained… It is impossible to get anything without its price.”

Hardwork is always required. But the greater the thing, the greater the price.

Do you want to be the best in your industry?

Do you want a phenomenal body?

Do you want to be a millionaire?

Ask yourself, “What is the price I need to pay to get this?” [Read more…]
